Agawa Bay and Montreal River Harbour area ice climbs March 15, 2011
Driving home to Toronto from out west along the north shore of Superior I couldn’t help but stop and gape at all the ice and cliffs I was seeing along the side the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17).
Agawa Harbour area iceHere’s a photo of a couple of big lines at the Agawa River. Unfortunately, they’re officially off limits because they’re in Lake Superior Provincial Park (although they’ve been climbed).
Climbs viewed from Highway 17, north of Frater Rd.Here’s a photo of a few more routes viewed from Highway 17 north of the junction of Frater Rd. I don’t remember the names of these either. I think they're in the park as well.
I really don't understand how climbing is allowed in Canada's National Parks out west, but not in Ontario Provincial Parks except Bon Echo.
