ADIRONDACKS ICE CLIMBING TRIP

Sharpen the 'poons and ready your tools, it be ice season in the High Peaks region of upstate New York’s Adirondack Mountains. This outing is a Class A trip: participants must be able to follow or lead ice with belay ledges, etc. not harder than WI 3+. Snowshoes are recommended for approaches over frozen lakes.
Participants will likely stay in a motel.

Adirondaks climbing and snowshoeing
This long weekend winter mountaineering workshop will focus on ice climbing and winter travel skills in the High Peaks mountain setting. Saturday Rob and Boris will share experience in an Ice Climbing and high angle snow travel seminar with lots of ice climbing practice. Sunday will be a long day with an ascent of one of the High Peaks. Some party members may do a long ice route to the summit. Monday will be more climbing with options for x-country or downhill skiing before heading home.

This is a joint trip between the Toronto and Ottawa sections.
Multi-pitch Trad routes of all grades (5.1 to 5.13) in the beautiful Shawangunks. Camping available, motels & restaurants in nearby New Paltz. Contact trip coordinator for information on skills and/or gear requirements, meeting time, location & directions and at least one week ahead to arrange travel & accommodations.

11th Annual Keene Valley Mountainfest
The Mountaineer and Adirondack Rock and River have teamed up again to host the eleventh ADIRONDACK INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAINEERING FESTIVAL in Keene Valley and Keene, the heart of the High Peaks Region of New York. The three day fest will be on Martin Luther King weekend, January 12-14. The Mountainfest is a not for profit event that will benefit local and regional charities.
